Shared Values Are Not Common Good
There’s no such thing as a common good anymore. Just a bunch of preachy, narrow, special interests. Everyone knows better and itches to assert an impeccable grasp of facts at every opportunity. Social relationships used to flourish around shared community experiences, which were by necessity diverse and inclusive. Now, everyone wants their neck of the woods to reflect shared values and approved groupspeak –exclusive alliances to which freelance apostates need not apply. What’s bemusing is that even though the hard-right folks are fiery in their apochryphal convictions, they’re fine for the most part if left alone. It’s the more liberal minded, the wokes, who are less tolerant of dissent, especially when the hypocrisies of their shared virtue signaling are pointed out. A slighted bubba/bubbette wads a gun. A slighted woke wads his/her/their panties. There is no commonality or goodness in either.
