Nuts Are Not Monolithic
Nuts are good for you. Native nuts, imported nuts, hybrid nuts, salted, roasted, spicy, shelled, peeled, baked, boiled, at home, in a bar, on an airplane, day and night; nuts are just good for you. But are all nuts equally good? Nuts come in so many different varieties, sizes, shapes and colors, it’s hard to tell good from not so good. Nuts should have a say in this, but do nuts know of good or bad, better or worse? Is a pecan more salt of the earth than an almond? Do walnuts take a dim view of cashews?
Do peanuts resent ending up half-peeled, half-eaten on bar floors? Are Brazilian nuts and Indian nuts taking over the rightful place of local nuts? Are acorns not good because they’re squirrelly nuts? To further complicate matters, there are proud nuts (Nut Pride), happy-hour nuts (Party Nuts), and not-quite nuts (Nutty Flavor). There’s such a diversity of nuts it’s a nutty task to try and crack the shell one way or the other. In a nutshell (wink, wink), all nuts are nuts, but nuts are not at all monolithic.
Sounds like a lot of nut jobs.
